It’s here finally! The Chris, Arctic, George and Gobo get chased by the cops, invent the wheel, eat beans, fly to the moon and take belly dancing lessons with the cast of the Barbie movie.
Hot damn, George! A huge, action-packed issue, fantastic puns and quips, and an explosive editing style! Also, the actual explosions and fire effects are extremely well done.
Wow no wonder this took you so long to make, it’s amazing! :o Really well written too; and Chris’ British dialogue makes me laugh, but that’s fine because I’m British myself. XD
Every pun, effect and detail was worth of consideration and promotion.
Absolutely stellar work all around, George.
Even had Dusk pulling a GMan in the TV lol
Making the explosions was a real blast! for real though, this comic is basically a long exercise in making smoke and fire. I’ma do a tutorial on it as it’s easier than one thinks, if you have the right brushes of course.
Getting Chris’ dialog at least approximate was crucial. Turns out that brits and murcans really speak differently, and I did quite a bit of research.
George, congrats, I was smiling throughout the whole comic
Some really creative transitions man. I mean, using smoke as a border for the panels was pretty dope, plus, on page 3 using the picture of Gobo flying not just as a panel, but as a background is pretty aestetic. I’ll add to the eye candy the scene were Chris throws the barrel. That’s just fucking cool.
Speaking of Chris, watching him become unhinged gave me a good laugh. Now, while I don’t think this was your intention, having Chris look down, from an elevated position, pearing into the fire, it was like he was looking straight into hell. And hell looked back.
Also, George, thank you so much for making Jeff not just cool (the panel on page 4, were jeff is raising his sunglasses and with smoke behind him? cheffs kiss), smart and competent. Fitting for someone working for Jason.
Well that was a fun read!
The dialogue was just pure enjoyment and the editing is very vibrant, kept surprising throughout the issue.
Proper job on the layout, Georgie! It’s very nicely put together.
Aw. Thanks guys, you are making me blush. I guess I can also post some thought and tidbits:
I tried playing fake Jeff, or Geoff, as Mythos calls him, as straight as possible. There’s something funny about a guy who quotes Churchill failing to catch four unarmed nerds.
The Lloyd Llewellyn kiosk is named after a beatnik-ish detective comic by Daniel Clowes, who the vendor kinda resembles.
Botevgradsko Shose boulevard is a random street in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Yellow Contraband includes stuff like booze and drugs, and I think also porn.
The codes themselves I found on a Steam Community guide to Metrocop RP’ing. There were a lot of codes, so I defaulted on some of them, like ”copy that” and ”units offline.”
”Beetroots” is a callback to Breen’s cousin Vasil Brankov, and is used as an insult in Bulgarian.
The Tesco Extra Store in Slough, UK is apparently really big.
The names on Arctic’s paper were generated by this handwriting AI
For the bombing scenes, I realized the HL2 MP7’s don’t actually have any grenade launchers attached to their world models. I figured the MP5’s from Black Mesa Source would probably work just as well for the Metrocops as it’s still Heckler & Koch.
